Holaa! ...y... una vez más disculpas por abandonar esta ventana al ciberespacio...
Mmmñññ bueno, esta vez cero que tengo excusa porque he estado de mudanza... y la verdad que esas cosas ocupan mucho tiempo...
Muchas gracias por las "pistas" que me dejáis, la verdad que me hacen mucha ilusión.
Al fin encuentro un ratillo y ademas casi obligado, ya que el viernes 29-Oct se estrena en España la última peli en la que he estado trabajando, asi que casi se me pasa el arroz para avisar.
Es de imagen real con niños de protagonistas y se llama Vivir Para Siempre. El montaje incluye unas escenas que son de animación, asi que mi trabajo consistió en definir estilo, concepts, dar ideas para el shooting y hacer las ilustraciones preparadas para incluirlas en las animaciones en 3D. El concepto es parecido al del anuncio de Renfe, tipo recortable.
Todo el CGI:  modelado y animación 3D, cámaras, los FX y la postpro es una vez más del equipazo de profesionales de Miopia FX.

La peli no la he visto, espero que esté bien, aunque parece un tanto triste, "nuse"... Os dejo con el trailer (en español), también se puede ver el clip de las animaciones sueltas (solo con música, no hay dialogo)  y aqui subo un par de ilustraciones.
Iré publicando más ilustraciones en próximos posts cuando ya se haya estrenado y sepamos de que va :).

Mñññ this time I have an excuse because I have been moving house and everyone knows how long these things take... :)
Finally I can squeeze a moment to post this (otherways it would be too late): The last film I have been working in is out on Friday (29-oct). It is a real action film with children as main characters. There are some animated scenes so my job was to define style, concepts, give ideas for the shooting and do the illustrations that are included in the 3D animated elements. It looks as animated paper cut-outs so illustrations are actually part of the texture.
All CGI: modelling, 3D animation, cameras, FX, postproduction, etc, has been done by the great team of Miopia FX in Madrid.

I haven't seen the film yet... I hope it is good, though it looks a bit sad... You can see the trailer here (in English), a video only with the animated scenes is here and a couple of illustrations.
I will post some more illustrations in the (hopefully) near future.

Este fue uno de los trabajos que hice durante el verano: diseñar el dragon para la animación.  Hicimos un concept de como podria haber sido con piezas planas pero con volumen.
Ganó el tatuaje plano.
Espero que os guste el diseñito. Es divertido hacer  este tipo de trabajo!

The concept was made to see how it would look like if it had some volume. The 2 dimensional one won.

Este es uno de esos post que dedico a unos cuantos libros que he leido. Para agradecer el buen rato que me han dado (cuando es el caso) y por si alguien busca algo con que entretenerse.

** Que ninguna guerra es buena, ya lo tenía claro. Y que los que siempre resultan irreparablemente dañados y afectados, sin poder hacer nada para evitarlo porque estaban allí sin más ni más, son las personas, cada una con su vida y sus momentos-afectos-esfuerzos-sueños arrasados, también lo tenía claro.  En Los Girasoles Ciegos (Alberto Méndez), esto, además esta contado de una forma espectacular por lo directa... Lo que cuenta es muy chungo, pero no puedes dejar de leerlo hasta que lo terminas. Muy recomendable, si tienes moral.
Le dedico la ilustración del post.
** Los objetos nos llaman de Juan José Millás, una coleccion de historias muy cortas. Surrealistas muchas veces, con humor algunas. Muy variado
** Solitude of Prime Numbers - La soledad de los numeros primos- de Paolo Giordano, es original y muy bien escrito tambien, pero esperaba un poco mas del final y de la historia... Lo compré porque me gustaba el titulo.
** Las Intermitencias de la Muerte de José Saramago. No había leido nada de él asi que probé con este que no es muy largo. Tiene 2 partes muy diferenciadas. Me gusta mucho la primera, su planteamiento de qué pasa en un país donde, de pronto, no se muere nadie.
** The Private Patient de PD James: una novela policíaca de las de toda la vida, con mansion inglesa, campiña, y hasta historias de brujas.

** The Lovely Bones de Alice Sebold (hay una peli, pero no la he visto): prometedor en el planteamiento pero me pareció un rollazo sin mucho sentido, el personaje principal me parece demasiado incoherente, sorry...
** The Time Traveller's Wife - La mujer del viajero en el tiempo- de Audrey Niffenegger (tambien hay una peli que no tiene muy buena pinta y no la he visto): El libro esta muy bien, un tipo que viaja en el tiempo, pero planteado de una forma muy original. Tiene el defecto de ser muy largo, no hacen falta tantos detalles, creo, pero la historia mola mucho y esta muy trabajada. Animo, que está muy bien escrito :)

Hello! this is one of those posts that I dedicate to the books I have recently read...To thank their authors the good time I had (if so ;) 
** That wars are not good I had it clear. And that is the life of the individuals that gets actually devastated and destroyed (as important for them as ours is for us) I knew it too. Los Girasoles Ciegos -The blind sunflowers- by Alberto Mendez tells you all that in a way that you cannot stop reading. very good! But I think is only in Spanish :( The illustration in the post is inspired in this book.
** Los objetos nos llaman - The objects call us- by Juan Jose Millas: a coleccion of very short stories: surreal and with humor. Cool!
** Solitude of Prime Numbers by Paolo Giordano original at the begining, but I expected a bit more. I like the title, though. 
** Las Intermitencias de la Muerte by Jose Saramago. It has 2 parts. I love the first one, about the situation of a country where no one dies any more.
** The Private Patient by PD James: A mystery novel with detectives, English mansion and even stories of witches. 
** The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. (there's a film but I haven't seen it): promising at the begining , but after that the main character gets very incoherent and the story too long and... I didn't like it, sorry ...
** The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (there's also a movie but I haven't seen it): The book is very good, very well written. About a guy that time travels but with a very original treatment. It is a bit long, should be shorter, I think, but the story is very good. Give it a try, it is worth it.

Este finde fuimos al teatro a ver El sueño de una noche de verano (Teatro Alcázar, Madrid). Es muy divertida y muy fantástica, con sus duendes y hadas enredando por ahi! El escenario era simple pero muy chulo, y los trajes superelaborados! (algunos recordaban los diseños de A. Lee) :D
Eche de menos que la traducción al español fuese un poco mas poética, pero supongo que así como lo hicieron era mas fácil de seguir.
Muy cómica y recomendable! ;)

Hello! 
This last weekend we went to the theater to see A midsummer night's dream (in Madrid). It is really funny and fantastic, with all the goblins and fairies messing around! Stage was simple but very nice and the costumes very elaborated (some of them reminded me of A. Lee designs) :D
I missed a bit more poetry in the translation into Spanish, but I suppose it was easier to follow this way. 
Fun and enjoyable!

Y me compré una mini-caja de acrílicos para hacerlo, y no los había usado nunca, asi que...una cosa lleva a la otra me he engorilao... y he estado un rato pintando tonterías... para probarlos. :D
El retrato es a partir de una foto de Tom GS Photography (que tiene unas fotos muy chulas, echadles un vistazo :), mi pinturilla no le hace justicia, pero me lo he pasado bien! para ser la primera vez... ay, y que pronto se seca!! :D

The portrait is from a photo by Tom GS Photography (he has very nice photos, just check it out!). My painting is not as good but I had fun doing it! (for being the first time, and it dries so fast!!) :D

Esos Paises Bajos // The Netherlands

Hola! ¿Como estais?
Hace poco estuvimos "vacacioneando" unos dias en Holanda, (fue antes del mundial asi que sin rencores por su parte, jajaja).
A pesar de que sus futbolistas practiquen kung-fu, es un pais muy chulo la verdad, las ciudades son bonitas, con los canales.. tienen arquitectura antigua, y construcciones megamodernas casi extravagantes, ademas de su aficion a Gaudi como se puede ver en la foto (es un banco en una zona peatonal de una ciudad pequeña, Almere, quien lo iba a decir!).
La cultura de la bici me fascina y la cantidad de tierra que uno pisa que está por debajo del nivel del mar no deja de intrigarme... y eso que me he leido "hagase vd. un polder con lo que tenga por casa" jajaja.
También tienen un monton de museos bonitos y curiosos, la foto de arriba es del Frans Hals museum en Haarlem... (no recuerdo que a mi me llevara el cole a El Prado a disfrazarnos de meninas... con lo bien que nos lo habriamos pasado poniendonos el miriñaque y la peluca... aunque alguien habria tenido que llevar el perro... jeje), los de la foto se lo estaban pasando en grande poniendose las cintas y los sombreros ;)...
En Utrecht, hay que ir a ver el museo de "Instrumentos musicales automáticos" (lo voy a llamar asi) Museum speelklok, tiene un montón de aparatos musicales antiguos que yo no sabia ni que existian! flipante!!

El museo Van Gogh es precioso, pero siempre me trae a la cabeza la misma idea: la vida puede ser muy chunga y el arte es definitivamente una moda... sus cuadros no son mas bonitos ahora de lo que lo eran antes... y sin embargo el exito llego muy tarde... algo se remueve dentro cuando piensas que en vida no vendio casi nada y que ahora sus obras están impresas hasta en tablas de skate!! (yo creo que debe ser el artista que mas reproducciones tiene de su obra sobre merchandising y lo que se paga no es nada despreciable) Eso sin olvidar que fue uno de los records mas tremendos de precio para un cuadro subastado... en fin... como decia Scar en el Rey Leon: "life is not fair.. is it??" y necesitas que alguien diga que eres bueno para que lo seas, si no, es dificil comerse un rosco... ;)
Y después de este pequeño trozo de pensamiento vagabundo, os dejo unos dibujinos: un apuntillo y unos personajes de aeropuerto dibujados mas tarde, intentando recordar.

Hello! How are you all?? 
Some days ago we went to Holland for some holidays (before the world cup, so no hard feelings then, haha). 
Although their football players are kung-fu masters, the country is really nice! Cities are beautiful, with their channels they have old architecture and really modern nearly extravagant stuff, plus they love Gaudi, as you can notice in the picture (this is a bench in a pedestrian area in a small town, Almere, surprisingly enough). The biking culture fascinates me and the polders philosophy always makes me wonder... haha. 
They also have a nice collection of interesting museums, the first picture is from the F. Hals museum in Haarlem. (I don't remember to be taken to El Prado to put on a Menina fancy dress, it would have been fun!). 
In Utrecht don't miss the Automatic Musical Instruments museum (Museum speelklok), full of clockwork music devices I didn't even know they existed!

Van Gogh's museum is gorgeous, but it always makes me think that life can be very hard and art sometimes it's just a fashion ... his paintings are as nice now as they were then but the success came definitely too late! Something stirs inside when you think he didn't sell much alive but now his artwork is printed even on skateboards!! (I think he must be the artist whose artwork has been printed on more merchan products) and also he was one of the records of a price for a painting in an auction... "life is not fair... is it?" and apparently, to be appreciated you need someone influent to say it and to be "in". 
And after this wander through my silly thoughts I leave you a couple of drawings: a sketch and some characters from the airport and the train, drawn afterwards, trying to remember.

Un libro que me he leído, Incredibly loud, extremely close de Jonathan Safran Foer (escribió tambien All is Illuminated). Está muy chulo, con niño protagonista y una manera muy original de escribir (o de presentarlo), con fotos, anotaciones, formato de pagina distinto... recomendable. Es un poco del estilo de El Incidente del perro a medianoche, pero diferente. los personajes son un tanto especiales...
Le hice un dibujito al niño.

A book I've just read, Incredibly loud, extremely close by Jonathan Safran Foer (All is Illuminated). It's nice, I liked it. It has a very original way of writing (or formatting), with pictures, handwritten notes, special layout... It reminded me of The curious incident of the dog in the night time, but it is different. Characters are pretty special. Just did a drawing of the main one.

The other one is made with those school-children oil pastels from a photo I took in Norway, the girl was dressed in their typical costume...

Hola! Aqui estoy otra vez, subo un par de chicas más para que la anterior no se quede sola.
Una la he pintado con los pinceles Nagel (tizas y lapices, me encantan) a partir de una foto de gettymages (muy bonita).
La otra la he pintado con ceras de las del cole a partir de una foto que hice en Noruega, la chica iba vestida con el traje tipico...

Me cansé del anterior (me pasa a veces). Madre mia! a estas alturas de las rebajas y todavia con el christma navideño en el blog!! Por qué el tiempo es tan poco? Bueno, yo siempre quiero pensar que llegará un momento en el que tenga mas (tiempo, digo).. optimismo nato, jeje.
Y estaba yo en la piscina uno de aquellos dias en los que si que tuve un rato para hacerme unos largos (aunque fueran pocos) y cuando saqué la cabeza, alli estaban ellas, todas del mismo cole, en la clase de natación del mediodia, escuchando con esa admiracion que uno tiene de pequeño por su monitor del deporte que mas le gusta. Pues eso, ahi estan.

Hellloooooo!! Oh my goodness, almost finishing the Sales season and I still have the christmas card in the blog!! Why time is so short!! I want to think that sometime in the near future I will have more (time, I mean). So, I was in the swimming pool one day, when I got a bit of that time I usually lack of, and when I stuck my head out of the water there they where, all from the same school, in their early afternoon swimming lesson, listening to their teacher from the water with that admiration you feel only when you are young. So there they are. Love

Hola! Espero que sigais todos bien!
Unos dibujetes del skbook hoy. Mira que coincidencia que hago un apuntillo en el parque de Berlin y resulta que este año se cumplen 20 años de la caída del muro, la verdad es que ni me habia dado cuenta cuando hice el dibujo, pero me enteré luego, asi que aqui lo pongo. Los tres cachos de pedrusco del medio de la fuente son tres cachos del muro... creo que no son de los mas vistosos, pero son los que nos tocaron, pues nada... ahi estan.
Los otros son una vista desde mi casa y una vista de Bocairent (un pueblo de Valencia que merece la pena ir a ver :). Por eliminación se deduce que la vista desde mi casa no es muy interesante... jeje.
Ah, pongo aqui el link del showreel de Autodesk, "The best of the best 2009", porque sale un poco del anuncio de Repsol y son nuestros dibujos y me hace ilusión.

Some scribbles today from the skbook. I did a little sketch in the Berlin Park (near my house in Madrid) and then I learn that this year is the 20th anniversary of the fall of the wall, so here I post the scribbles. The three stones in the middle of the fountain are actually three blocks from the wall (I think we got some of the dull ones)
The other drawings are a view from my house and a view of Bocairent, a nice village in Valencia worth to visit (yes, the view from my house is the uninteresting one... ¬¬
Ah! and I add down here the link to Autodesk's "Best of the best 2009" showreel because it features a bit of the Repsol commercial with our drawings in it...

Pues aunque he estado ese tiempo sin pasarme por aqui, si que he podido leer algo. Como me mola poner lo que estoy leyendo en la columna de la derecha y se me ha pasao el arroz por mucho, pues voy a reunirlo todo junto y os posteo un collage-ilustracion (he pegado las portadas originales que siempre queda mas "autentico", jeje).. Si estais dudando que leer, ahí hay alguna idea ...
(esto es lo que a mi me parecen, que no tiene nada que ver con lo que son. Tampoco son los que mas me gustan, ni me gustan todos, solo son los mas recientes):
* The road de Cormac McCarthy: crudo, gris y preocupante... con un final un poco apresurado o ... ¿? pero se lee de una tacada, (si tienes tiempo... yo tardé mas porque no tengo, :b)
* El mundo de Juan Jose Millás: autobiografia, typical madrileñish, aunque podria ser cualquier sitio de España en esos años.
* The death of Bunny Munro de Nick Cave, la historia esta bien, y muy bien escrita, se nota que se hace sus propias letras y todo eso, jeje, eso si, te tienen que gustar las novelas con mucho sexo.. (a mi me pillo desprevenida, me aburrió un poco, encima por el titulo ya sabes como acaba! mmmñññ ) Perfecto para troncos, creo.
* Man in the dark de Paul Auster, tipico suyo, si lo has leido antes. Esta bien, muy de nuestro tiempo.
* The white tiger de Aravind Adiga. Situado en la India, escrito en forma de e-mail. oscuro, original y enganchoso.
* The stars' tennis balls de Stephen Fry... Lo maaas chungo, asustoso y oscuro que he leido desde American Psycho (y de eso hace años). madremiamadremia! no puedes parar hasta que lo acabas.
* Moab is my washpot de Stephen Fry tambien... autobiografía, no me enganchó tanto como los otros, sorry. (el mejor para mi es el de Making History)
* El camino del sabio de Walter Riso: Los filosofos de la antigüedad para gente normal como nosotros. Ademas entretenido.
* La aventura del tocador de señoras de Eduardo Mendoza: muy gracioso, un buen rato leyendo :D
* On cats, de Doris Lessing, autobiografico o gatobiografico, muy chulo si te gustan esos bichos (a mi si ^.^)
* De Arquimedes a Einstein de Manuel Lozano Leyva: ya lo lei hace tiempo pero lo he vuelto a reeler! es genial!! este es superrecomendable: segun el titulo, las biografias, anecdotas y demas elementos historicos que rodearon los mejores experimentos. Es divertido, se entiende todo y de repente se entienden muchas otras cosas! sin duda hay que leerlo.

Hellooo! Although I have been away from here, I managed to read something. As Ilike to tell you through the right column the book I am currently reading and many have already gone, I've put them together in a collage-illustration (I stuck the original covers to make it look more "real" :). If you are thinking about what to read here you have some ideas... if you want. (the following are just my opinions, they may differ from yours and that's all right!. They are not my favorite books, they just are the ones I've recently read)
* The road by Cormac McCarthy: sooo bleak, grey and worrying ... is the end a bit rushed ¿? you read it in one go, (if you have the time... I took longer cause I don't have any. see precedent post haha :b)
* El mundo by Juan Jose Millás: autobio, typical madrileñish, or any kid in Spain in those years.
* The death of Bunny Munro by Nick Cave, plot is good, very well written, he writeshis own lyrics you know?,hehe, but you have to like novels with lots of sex.. (I didn't know about it, got a bit bored, and the title already gives away the ending!! mmmñññ ), perfect for men, I think.
* Man in the dark by Paul Auster, typical his, if you already know his style. It's good, very up to date with contemporary history.
* The white tiger by Aravind Adiga. It happens in India, written as an e-mail. original and trapping.
* The stars' tennis balls by Stephen Fry... The scariest and darkest thing I've read since American Psycho (and that was a long time ago). oh may may!
* Moab is my washpot by Stephen Fry tambien... autobio, not as trapping as the others, sorry. (the best for me is Making History)
* El camino del sabio by Walter Riso: classic philosophy for normal people. Easy to read as well.
* La aventura del tocador de señoras by Eduardo Mendoza: very funny, try it if you know Spanish!!
* On cats, by Doris Lessing, autobio or catbio, really, great if you like the catlife (I do ^.^)

Ultimamente el tiempo se me hace muy corto, o se me pasa muy rápido, que es lo mismo..., por eso me pasa esto con el blog...
Debe ser la edad, y encima dicen que cuanto mas mayor, mas rapido se pasa...
Decia Punset el otro dia en su programa de Redes que para que parezca que el tiempo es mas largo hay que hacer el mayor numero de cosas diferentes... es verdad que parece que cunde mas... asi que nada, a probar cosas nuevas...
Ilustracion nueva, estilo clasico, ayudará algo? :)

Parecia que esto se habia muerto... ññññ pero no, todo llega, hasta el tiempo para subir mas dibujos... Que vergüenza, que abandono... en fin, si es que no he podido.
Bueno, espero compensar este tiempo de espera... y ademas os visitaré para que sepais que aun existo... el ego que no renuncia a su protagonismo. Y contaré mas cosas, por si todavia hay alguien que me lee.
Empiezo por dibujos de las vacaciones: unos sketches piscineros para que no parezcan tan lejanas! y unos colorines con la DS...

Hola hola! he vuelto otra vez! como estais? Va a ser que este es mi ritmo natural de actualizacion del blog y que intentar ir mas rapido es ciencia-ficcion, jeje ayay. Os pongo una ilustracion que he hecho para Tom Wild y su proyecto-libro Lucidity, que va de sueños. Espero que os guste...
Y ya que estamos de sueños, nos han dado 2 premios hace muy poco!!: A la direccion artistica del anuncio de Renfe en el FIAP (festival iberoamericano de la publicidad) y otro a la caracterización del anuncio de Repsol, de la APCP (asociacion de productoras del cine publicitario), asi que por mi parte estoy supercontenta : D yuhuuu! y les doy las gracias a los equipazos de gente que los han hecho posible.

Hi there! I'm back again! how are you? I think this is going to be the natural pace of updating my blog, so trying to go faster seems to be science-fiction, well I'll have to give way to nature... I post today an illustration made for Tom Wild's project Lucidity book, which is about dreams. I hope you like it.
And by the way, we got awarded!! we got the award to the art direction with Renfe spot in the FIAP (Advertising Iberoamerican Festival) and the award to characterization (art and make-up) with Repsol by the Association of Advertising Film Producers (APCP Spain). I am very happy and I thank all the people that made them possible.

Y cayeron un monton de copos en Madrid! esta foto no es artistica, es solo peculiar porque yo no habia visto esto antes: el parque del barrio, tan cubierto de nieve! :D yuhuuu!

And a lot of snowflakes fell all over Madrid!! This photo is not particularly artistic, but it is rare, because I hadn't seen the park in the neighbourhood like this before (not with so much snow!) :D yahoooooo!!!

Waiting for the snow

Hola! Todo este frio y esta nieve que sale en la tele me hacen pensar en ir a la nieve otra vez! Los ultimos años han sido bastante escasos de nieve, y no mola nada caerse en la nieve dura! A ver si este invierno es un poco mas generoso, aun asi habra que esperar hasta que empiece la temporada... mientras, un dibujino soñado en los ratos aburridos del trabajo...

Hello! All this snow and cold weather shown on tv makes me wish to go to the snow again! These last years have been very short on snow here in Spain, and it's no good to fall down on hard artificial snow... Let's see if this winter is more generous, but we still have to wait until the season starts... in the meanwhile, a drawing dreamed of in the spare time at work...
